Sunset Park & Recreation Foundation

The Sunset Park & Recreation Foundation makes a positive impact on hundreds of lives through the SEPRD programs and access to facilities. The Foundation's collaborations with community partners have resulted in the Seaside Skate N' Ride Park, The Circle of Lights Legacy Project--an extraordinary six-year financial commitment by 17 donors for the purchase and installation of lights at Broadway Field and a Foundation no-interest loan for the baseball backstops. Most recently, the ADA lift for Sunset Pool was jointly funded by the Foundation, the Seaside Rotary Foundation and Providence Seaside Hospital in memory of June Stromberg who exemplified the spirit of giving back to the community.

The Foundation is the funding vehicle for Swim Team Scholarships and to sustain "THE PROGRAM"-- a tobacco/alcohol/drugs/gangs prevention curriculum developed locally which begins in 5th grade, scholarship opportunities for college-bound seniors and other funding opportunities in our community.

The Foundation works with prospective donors to identify projects that will make a difference in our community's recreational and positive lifestyle opportunities. We accept donations of property, money or securities for park and recreational purposes and advise donors in appropriate gift-giving strategies.

Foundation History & Purpose

The Sunset Park & Recreation Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit established in 1998 to support the efforts of the Park & Recreation District. Each year, the Foundation hosts events and fundraisers to support district programs and projects. The district scholarship program, supported by the foundation, helped over 300 children, youth, adults and seniors have access to safe, quality aquatic, recreational and youth services last year, totaling a little over $22,000. The primary event the foundation holds for scholarship fundraising is A Sweet Affaire.

As a matter of fact, the Foundation has raised in excess of $100,000.00 over the last decade for the scholarship program alone, serving over 2,200 youth, adults and seniors in our community.
